This
striking 40,000 square foot multipurpose addition project
was awarded to Jack Bays, Inc. following a competitive
bid process that included value engineering, necessary
because of cost overruns.
We
worked closely with the architect and the building committee
to offer cost saving ideas that wouldn't affect the high
level of finishes envisioned for this facility. Foundations
consisted of over 70 drilled caissons with grade beams
to allow construction on unstable soils. The building
is steel framed with masonry veneer and includes extensive
use of precast architectural shapes, elaborate wood cornice
and synthetic slate shingles, all to match the older existing
chapel.
