Bishop Ireton High School 101 Cambridge Road, Alexandria, Virginia
ARCHITECT

This $5.5 million auditorium, music department and classroom addition features an interior curved concrete stair with granite treads and risers, exterior granite façade, monumental storefront entrances and a concert quality auditorium with floor-to-ceiling natural birch wood acoustical baffles.

A complex scaffolding system - constructed on a sloping slab - was utilized to complete the intricate ceiling finishes and catwalks. Jack Bays, Inc. was awarded the project in part due to a unique phasing plan that allowed the school to remain in full operation while dealing with extremely tight site conditions and limited classroom space.
